Psychological Evaluation for Prospective Adoptive Parents

Psychological Evaluation of Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAP's) is a relatively new requirement for families adopting from Russia. Many adoption agencies are requiring psychological evaluations for other eastern european and latin American programs as well. At this time most agencies are not requiring testing. PAP's and agencies may choose to include testing in their evaluation just in case requirements change.
Some agencies require the evluation when you submit your dossier, for others it is requested before Trip 1, and for others between Trip 1 and 2. Your agency will tell you the best time to schedule your evaluation, and whether or not psychological testing is required. You will need to submit a copy (a draft is OK) of your homestudy and your interview will take at a mutually convenient tiem. If you do not yet have a completed copy of you homestudy, another questionnaire can be submitted but you must have your police and child abuse clearances before the evaluation.
